1100L green organic waste container with four wheels for food and garden waste collection, compliant with EN840 standards.

Buy a green waste container for Antwerp

The City of Antwerp collects vegetable, fruit and garden waste separately, and this waste must be placed in a green container. If you purchase your own container, there are three things to consider: the colour, the volume and the standard the container complies with. If your container does not meet these requirements, it may simply be left behind during collection.

Zeep Akker supplies green organic waste containers that meet these requirements — the same containers used by professional cleaning companies and facility management services. You can order them directly online, without an intermediary.

  • Volume

    140, 240, 770 or 1100 liters — 120 liter isn't yet accepted

  • Standard

    EN 840-1, EN 840-2 or EN 840-3

  • Material

Plastic; metal containers are too heavy for the loading system.

Which size should you choose?

A container that overflows at every collection will cost you more in the long run than choosing one size larger. On the other hand, a 1,100-litre container takes up roughly half a parking space. As a general guideline:

  • Household of 2 to 4 people with a garden — 140 litres is usually sufficient with collection every two weeks.
  • Large household or a lot of garden waste — 240 litres, or a second 140-litre container.
  • Apartment building or small hospitality business — 770 litres.
  • Commercial kitchen, catering business or landscaping company — 1,100 litres, or several containers if needed.

Not sure? Measure how much organic waste you actually put out over one week and double that amount if collection takes place every two weeks.
